The East Asia Conference 2017

01 Apr 2017

The East Asia Conference 2017 saw a few different fundraising events raise a total of £3994 for the Mercy Preschool in Bangkok. In January of 2017 the slum surrounding the Slaughter House School experienced a devastating fire. The South East Asia Conference decided that all money raised would go to this one supporting project to help recover from the tragedy, you can read more about this here

The event included:

Bali Beaver Beach Dash

A charity 3km beach run was held which was open to all delegates. A 7am start on the flat sands of Jimbaran Beach. Participation was set at a charitable USD15 or Rp200,000 with prizes for the first, second and third placed delegates, fastest INTO runner and even last place takes home a prize. Thanks to our friends in Oregon who have provided the first place prize: an all expenses paid trip to visit INTO Oregon State University!!

For the non-runners amongst who still have generous bones you’ll be able to participate by betting on the finishing times. We’ll be offering a pair of Beats headphones to the correct or closest finishing time guess. Rp20,000 bids can be placed during the Welcome Dinner.

Casey from OSU was first to finish but agent line honours went to Piet from Hands On Education in Thailand who won a trip to Oregon State University.

A Pub Quiz style dinner with a raffle was also held, conference attendees could pay to enter.

Finally... and one of our favourites, Tom filmed an egg eating challenge... proving that fundraising can be whacky and weird but still work!
