INTO Giving enters 2019

02 Jan 2019

2018 has drawn to a close and it’s been a big one for INTO Giving. We’ve reached milestones, ran marathons, held International events, visited current projects and started supporting new ones. Looking back on the year we wanted to share with you our favourite events of each month of 2018.

In January an INTO Manchester Employee Russel Scott was the first to take up a paid day of volunteering at a homeless shelter for 2 nights, “The experiences in the shelter themselves went a long way to helping me see the scope of homelessness in the city and understand the complexity of the issue. It was good to be able to transfer my skills and experience working in student support to the role of a shift volunteer.”

In February we saw centres across the world celebrate Valentine’s day by throwing fundraisers for our projects, spreading love across themselves but also to the children we support.

March saw centres and students join in with our social media campaign for International Women’s Day, posting their support across centres in the states and the UK. INTO Giving continues to support education for girls as a focus and it was an honour to see our colleagues join us in supporting that.

In April we had 5 runners complete the Brighton marathon and raise £4259.81 for our projects. This included an impressive second run by Katy Hancock, this time in a chicken suit a big well done to all of them again!

In May centres across the world joined us in cycling miles for sponsorship! Collectively we cycled the distance from London to Istanbul and raised £2587.00 across the 2 days.

In June we joined non-profits across the world in promoting refugee week with the UN 20 simple acts campaign. We attended talks, we watched films, wrote letters, screened documentaries and presented photo exhibitions all to raise awareness of the plight of refugees.

July saw us reach a huge mile stone of raising $1 Million! A fantastic collective effort of every single supporter of INTO Giving across the years. Thank you again to each and every donor, we couldn’t do what we do without you.

August was a busy month but we believe the most impressive event was undertaken through our iGive scheme by Jo Clark in Newcastle who raised a final total of £4677.72 for the Kelly Hendry Dance school, we topped this up by 20% adding to the total an extra £935.54 making it our biggest iGive fundraiser to date.

In September UEA held their annual golf day which this year raised a staggering £5326 with an additional £500 being raised via iGive for the local children’s hospice.

October we celebrated our 10th birthday by releasing a film on our visit to Project Hope 4 Kids a school for refugee children in Greece. We hope this film will give an insight into kind of work we support here at INTO Giving and what your donations achieve.

In November we finalised our choice of 6 new projects we have chosen to support for the next coming year. All of these were nominated by INTO Employees across the world and we’re excited to work with them in the upcoming months.

And finally; in December we held our UK Wide Prize Draw, which raised an amazing £4300 and included prize winners such as an Evalina at INTO Stirling who won a £500 flight voucher generously donated by Hitachi.

So as you can see, even from this brief roundup, it’s been a busy and big year for INTO Giving and w really want to say our thank you, we couldn’t have done any of this without you. Happy new year and we’re looking forward to seeing what 2019 brings.
